Meet Scott Marchant

Hiking Idaho was established in Stanley, ID in 2009 when our first hiking book—The Day Hikers Guide Stanley, ID—was initially published. The business moved to its current location in Boise in 2010. The company is primarily directed by me—Scott Marchant. I started the business with the goal of creating informational hiking guidebooks to encourage people to explore the outdoors and wilderness. I have always felt that being in nature is truly one of life’s most rewarding experiences.

Although The Day Hikers Guide to Stanley, ID is no longer in print, the business has grown to include seven hiking guidebooks. In addition to the guidebooks, I also produce a yearly Idaho calendar, greeting cards, postcards, landscape puzzles, and Idaho playing cards, all with the assistance of a wonderful designer, Kiran Spees. All products (except for the two books I recently published by other authors) are personally researched and created by me.

I hope that my guidebooks help people discover the wilderness and find new favorite places to get “lost”. Even if someone doesn’t enjoy ambling through the woods, maybe the calendar, a card, or some other Hiking Idaho product will put a smile on their face.
